Caravan 12V Electrical

Electrical work is only half of what a caravan needs. Bearings, brakes and suspension are covered under caravan and trailer servicing, and the same 12V and dual battery experience runs through our wider auto electrical work.

Why choose AEQ for caravan work:

A caravan's electrical system takes a different kind of abuse to a car's, constant vibration, weather exposure and long periods sitting idle between trips. Common issues we see are faulty earth connections, corroded wiring, failed batteries and poor-quality aftermarket installs, all of which can cause power to drop out or create genuine safety hazards. A proper inspection finds the actual cause, not just the symptom. Because we handle mechanical work as well, we can also check brakes and bearings while your van's in for electrical work, rather than sending you elsewhere for a second inspection.

FAQ:

Do I need a dual battery system for off-grid travel?

If you're running a fridge, lights or electronics while off-grid, yes. A dual battery system powers your accessories without draining the vehicle's main starting battery, and we install and configure setups tailored to how you travel.

Yes. We do full AGM to lithium conversions, including the DC-DC charger, wiring and charge settings the new battery needs. Lithium won't charge properly or safely on a system set up for AGM, so we make sure the whole charging path is right, not just the battery.

The most common culprits are corroded wiring, a faulty earth connection, a failing battery, or a blown fuse from a poor-quality aftermarket install. We run a full inspection to find the actual source rather than guessing.

Yes, we supply and fit both proportional and time-delayed brake controllers, matched to your tow vehicle and van.

No. We're 12V specialists. Work on your caravan's 240V mains wiring, power points or mains-connected appliances needs a licensed electrician. If you're not sure which side of the system your fault sits on, give us a call and we'll point you in the right direction.
